My First Week With Apple Watch: Five Things I Love

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the new Apple Watch, seeing a lot of mixed reviews, but I do love it and here’s why:

1. I can leave my phone in my pocket

The Apple Watch, right there on my wrist, is easily accessible and super convenient. Having a busy schedule, time is quite the escape artist, and I don’t have to waste more of it by digging out my phone to check the time or answer a call or text message.

2. I might not always have my phone on me

And now I don’t need to. I don’t always have my phone in my hand or pocket when I’m at home, and sometimes I leave it in another room. But I also hate missing a call or message. With the new Apple Watch, as long as my phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, I never miss a call and can easily stay in touch with what’s going on in the world.

3. Health and fitness tracking

Exercise is important to me, and when I do CrossFit I like to know how I’m doing, how many calories I’ve burned, and when to stop and rest. I also like the friendly reminder to get up and move around when I’ve been sitting too long.

4. Apple Pay Integration

At the grocery store, running errands, or wherever I go, I don’t have to deal with cash or pull out my wallet to make a purchase. I know how easily credit cards can get dropped or stolen, and this is a fail-safe way to ensure that my payment method stays on my person at all times. Also, with Apple Pay I know I’ll never find myself in that awkward moment of “I forgot my wallet.”

5. Something to talk about

As a new product on the market with almost Sci-Fi-like capabilities, the Apple Watch is a great conversational piece with friends, coworkers and even strangers.  Interactive media, GPS, fitness tracking, third party Apps, remote control and communications are among the wealth of technological functions on this little device, and could keep me talking for a long time.
